Blog Action Day, how exciting! At the moment, I am very busy trying to find a job or volunteering position on a project of rural development in less developed countries. Very soon, I will have an interview for a position in Viet Nam and it will involve a lot of administrative work to manage and fund a programme linked to water access.
I have already been looking into opportunities to get financial support for this project, in order to propose concrete solutions during my interview. Although the Internet will probably not give you a huge amount of money, solutions exist and some of them are very good to raise small amounts and efficiently help reduce poverty. Global Giving, for example, is a great platform to easily donate money and fund projects helping people in need.
Microcredits are also a great way to help fight poverty. By lending small amount of money, which banks usually wouldn’t even consider giving, you can help entrepreneurs from developing countries buy the tools they need to start an activity, generate revenues and reimburse their loan. You should definitely have a look at Kiva, which does just that and allow people to lend money directly to people who need it.
If you are looking for a way to support your prefered charities with sponsors on the Internet, you should also read my previous note about SocialVibe.
